Billing, Payment, and Insurance
As a courtesy, we submit claims directly to our patients’ insurance companies. If you have a question about your MNCOME bill, please call us at 651-379-1600, and choose option five (5).
Some plans require you to get a referral for specialist services. If your plan does, please call your primary care physician before your appointment to arrange for one. Most plans involve a copay, which is due at the time of your appointment. Please also note that you are responsible for meeting your plan’s deductible and any other costs required by your insurance.
MNCOME accepts cash, check or Visa/Mastercard to pay your copays and bills. If you pay your bill online through the Patient Portal, you can also use Discover or American Express. You can also mail payment, bring it in person, or pay over the phone.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, we are happy to set up a payment plan with you. Please contact 651-379-1600 and choose option five (5) to talk with our billing staff.
If you do not have health insurance, please plan to make a $120.00 down payment at the time of your visit.
How to ask your insurance company if MNCOME is covered in your plan
Typically with provider-only visits, the goal is to find out if we are in your network. You can ask the customer service agent to look for MNCOME, the Minnesota Center for Obesity, Metabolism and Endocrinology, or any of our providers by name.
Because our education services are still not widely covered, it’s important to also ask your insurance plan if “medical nutrition therapy” is covered before your first visit. Usually the answer is yes, and the company will tell you the number of visits per year. If the answer is no, please keep your appointment and notify us when you check in.
